Nobody wants to have to deal with pests so it is a good idea to try and protect your home against them. There are several things you can do to ensure pests stay away from your home.
There are various ways to protect your home from bed bugs so that they do not become an issue.
1. Physical Control Methods
Take these measures as soon as possible and do them on a continuing basis to ensure you do not get bed bugs in the home.
A) De-clutter your home
It is time to throw away any items that you do not use. Items that are used but not often can be put into proper storage in order to reduce places that bed bugs can take refuge.
B) Vacuum regularly
Make sure you keep your home clean with regular vacuuming and vacuum in places where bed bugs are likely to hide. Don’t forget to take care of the edge of mattresses and along edges of furniture.
C) General cleaning
The cleaner you keep your house, the less likely you will be to experience and infestation of any sort of pest. You want to make sure the home is clean and tidy so that pests are not attracted to the area.
D) Make your bed an island
You want to make it less likely that bed bugs will be able to get onto the bed. Keep your bed away from the wall and put something under the bed legs to try and discourage any bugs from crawling up. Bed bugs do not like crawling on smooth or sticky surfaces. Do not allow a bed skirt to hang down to the floor and keep coats and purses and other clothing off of the bed.
2. Chemical Control Methods
If you have noticed bed bugs in the home you can still take measures to protect against further infestation and get rid of the ones that are there.
Make sure that you are using pesticides that are approved by Health Canada. They will have a Pest Control Product Registration Number on them. The product label should specifically name the pest that it is to be used for and also where the product can be used safely. Pesticides intended to control bed bugs must specify that it is to be used for that and that it is safe in the home. It is very important to follow the directions that are on the label.
If you are unsure about the use of chemicals in the home, it is best to contact a professional exterminator such as Rox Bugs to help you deal with the problem.
