Hire a Bed Bug Removal Company or Do It Yourself

The Pros vs. Cons

You just realized that you have bed bugs and now you need to determine how you are going to move forward with getting rid of them. Should you hire a bed bug removal company, like Rox Bugs, or should you try to destroy the bed bugs on your own?

Hiring a Professional Exterminator

If you decide to hire a bed bug removal company, the process should be fairly simple. The company will enter your home and perform an inspection to see if there are any living bed bugs inside your home. When they come to the same conclusion as you, and there are indeed bed bugs, then they can exterminate the bed bugs and their eggs.

Person Cleaning

Rox Bugs has a simple extermination method that is highly effective. They use extreme heat and because their Heat Assault Units are so efficient, they can usually have the process completed by the end of the day. This means that you are spending one day removing bed bugs and then enjoying your home again.

Do it Yourself

The entire do it yourself process is a little more complicated than all of that. It is doable; however, it can take a lot longer to remove all of the bed bugs from your home. First, you will need to determine where the bed bugs are in your house. They are experts at hiding in small spaces, so this can be a difficult and tedious task.

Coloured Rugs

Once you have determined which rooms you need to remove the bed bugs from, you will need to make sure that you do not remove any items from those rooms and place them in the rooms that do not have bed bugs. Any clothing or linens that are in these rooms will need to be washed in hot water and then placed in a dryer on high heat for at least thirty minutes. The heat from the water and the dryer will kill all of the bed bugs and the eggs that may have attached to your clothing and linens. As soon as these items are clean, they should be placed in a room that does not have bed bugs.

The infested rooms should be vacuumed thoroughly. This includes the carpets, furniture, mattresses, box springs, and anything else that has fabric. After vacuuming, you will need to remove the bag immediately and throw it away outside. This will prevent the bed bugs from escaping back into your house. Any items that cannot be vacuumed or washed should be placed in black bags or bins and put out in direct sunlight for at least two hours.

Vacuum

There are a couple of natural sprays that you can use to kill bed bugs too. Fill a spray bottle with water and then place twenty drops of tea tree oil inside and shake well. This can be applied throughout your home until you no longer see any bed bugs. Alternatively, instead of tea tree oil, you can also place twenty drops of lavender oil and twenty drops of peppermint oil into a spray bottle filled with water. The lavender oil will not only kill the bed bugs, but also the eggs that they leave behind.

Spray Bottle

To ensure that no more bed bugs can leave your mattress and box spring, you should place covers around both of these items. The covers that you choose should be made specifically for bed bugs, because they have been designed to make it impossible for bed bugs to get through the material. Over time, the bed bugs that are left inside your mattress and box spring will die.

So Which Method is Better?

The do it yourself method for removing bed bugs can take a lot of time and it is not guaranteed to work as well as the methods that bed bug removal companies use. If you are not sure which method is best for you, you should call Rox Bugs and let their experts talk to you about the options, so that you can make a decision that is best for you.
